Tips to Get Rid of Roaches

If you hate roaches like most people do, there are many ways that your can get rid of them in your house. You can stick with roach bates and roach sprays, which are generally effective, or you can try adding a few sticky pads and maybe even a natural roach killer.

No matter how you opt to get rid of the roaches in your house, remember to keep all toxins and pesticides away from children and other pets. Although, this may sound pretty simple and common sense oriented, you'll find that many people forget and leave the roach bait in an easily accessed location.

Because roaches are fast producers, you want to not only kill the roaches but stop the eggs, too. This bait contains Abamectin, which keeps killing roaches nonstop. It will kill them where they breed and keep your home roach-free for up to three months. All you have to do is break the baits apart and place them in appropriate places. It's recommended that you use all 12 baits at the same time for the best results; try using more in the kitchen and a few in each bathroom.

If you're trying to find something with less chemicals and with a more natural approach, there are a few things that you can do to get rid of roaches.

First off, keep your house clean. Take out the garbage regularly, clean up crumbs, use glass or plastic jars and containers to properly store food, wipe up spills immediately, and make regular home repairs to leaky pipes and holes around windows and doors.

Next, if you're still having problems, try one of the following natural roach remedies.

1. In equal amounts, mix borax and sugar together and sprinkle it around baseboards, windows, doors. under the sink, in cracks, and in cabinets. The sugar will attract the roaches and the borax will damage the roaches digestive system and outer skeleton. Just keep the mix dry as it loses its effectiveness when it gets wet. Also, keep other pets and children away from the borax.

2. If you want something a little less iffy (IE the borax), try mixing baking soda and sugar in equal amounts and pour in small containers (bottle caps work well). Place the caps in location that will be out of the way. The sugar will attract the roaches, but after eating the mix, the roaches will need a drink and the combination of the two ingredients will create a gas inside the intestines, which will burst, causing death. (You still want to keep this away from children and pets.)

3. Diatomaceous Earth (DE) is another non-toxic ingredient that is odorless and will cause death to roaches. Basically, when their exoskeletons get in contact with the ingredient (which is composed of finely milled fossilized shells of small organisms), it will cause the roaches to dehydrate and die within hours.

4. Bay laurel leaves repel roaches, and all that you have to do is place them in the cabinets and other areas to keep the roaches at bay.
